Tournament of Champions - Frequently Asked Questions
What tournament formats are eligible?
4-person walk and 4-person no-walk. As long as the $5,000 minimum prize pool is achieved.
What about a Singles tournament? Or Doubles or Triples?
These tournaments are also eligible if they meet the minimum prize pool. For singles, it is $3,000. For doubles, it is $4,000. For triples, it is $5,000. However, winners of these tournaments will go to the Player Pool. Only 4-person teams are allowed to stay together.
What if a player wins multiple tournaments, but with different team members?
There is a tiebreaker system. The player must play with the winning team that had the highest tournament prize pool. If there is a tie, the next tiebreaker is the number of teams in the tournament. If still a tie, then the event organizers will decide. If that tournament does not have at least 3 players from that team playing, then the tournament win with the 2nd highest prize pool is now the qualifying tournament.
We won a qualifying tournament, but 1 team member cannot play in the Tournament of Champions final tournament. Can we still play?
Yes. As long as you have at least 3 team members from the original winning team, you can play.
We won a qualifying tournament, but 2 team members cannot play in the Tournament of Champions final tournament. Can we still play?
You cannot play as your winning team with just 2 members from the winning team. However, the players will be entered into the Player Pool.
My team is eligible to play in the Tournament of Champions final tournament, but I need a substitute player. Who can I get to replace that player?
Substitute players can only be selected from the Player Pool.
What is the Player Pool?
If a player wins a tournament but cannot play as part of the winning team in the Tournament of Champions final tournament, that player enters the Player Pool. Only players in the Player Pool will be eligible as substitutes for teams that needs players.
What if I pay the season fee but my teammates do not and we win a qualifying tournament?
Players that did not pay the $100 season fee have the option to pay for the season fee late which includes a late fee for a total of $150 within 2 weeks of the tournament victory. If at least 3 team players have paid the fee, then those 3 players will have earned a paid entry into the Tournament of Champions final tournament. If the 4th player does not pay, then they can acquire a player from the Player Pool.
What if I win a tournament that was sponsored to be eligible (Route #2)
All four players have qualified as a team for the Tournament of Champions final event and are also eligible via Route #1.
How is it determined what team gets first pick from the Player Pool?
It will be a ranked system based on the Prize Pool amount from the tournament won. If there is a tie, the next tiebreaker is the number of teams in the tournament. If there is still a tie, then the event organizers will decide.
What do we do with the players in the Player Pool that are not needed to fill team roster spots?
If enough players are left to form their own team, then they can do so. A system will be created to formalize this.
What if I need a sub from the Player Pool, but there are no eligible players left?
The highest ranked player on the BPA’s Open Leaderboard (who has registered for the Tournament of Champions season) that did not win a tournament will be the eligible choice.
What if a player wins a Tournament ($10,000 prize pool) but isn't signed up and doesn't want to. Then 2 months later, that player wins a tournament ($5,000 prize pool) and then signs up. What tournament champion team does he play with?
If a player wins a qualifying tournament but doesn’t sign up before the tournament or during the 2-week period after the victory, then that tournament is no longer an option. In this example, only the tournament with the $5,000 prize pool would be eligible.
